Hello! I’m Mandy Herberholz, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor-Supervisor (LPCC-S), Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) counselor, and owner of Wild Roots Counseling Services.

I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. My work has always been rooted in creating a space where people can feel safe, understood, and supported while navigating some of life’s most difficult and transformative seasons.

I specialize in working with women, particularly during pregnancy, postpartum, motherhood, and other major life transitions. In 2021, I earned my Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, and each year I help obtain the North Dakota Governor’s Proclamation recognizing Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week in May. Advocacy and increasing awareness of perinatal mental health have become an important part of my work.

My other areas of clinical focus include trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship concerns, self-esteem, stress, parenting, career and work concerns, and life transitions.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and individualized. I don’t believe therapy should look exactly the same for every person. I draw from person-centered and client-centered approaches while incorporating evidence-based and trauma-informed practices, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Above all, I believe therapy is about more than simply reducing symptoms. It’s an opportunity to better understand where we’ve come from, recognize the experiences and patterns that have shaped us, and decide what we want to carry forward as we grow.

Wild Roots represents being grounded in your story while having the freedom to grow beyond it. Inspired by my love of travel, exploration, and new experiences, the name reflects what I hope for my clients: strong roots, continued growth, and the courage to discover where their own path may lead.
